Maxi jet pumps surging

Not sure if this is normal since I have had other maxi jet pumps but I have noticed that these maxijet 900 pumps that I have bought a few months ago surge causing my ato to go off. Then I notice that they stop surging at some point causing water to be higher than my ato water line. Is this normal for pumps to do. Only difference from my last set up was that I had mj pumps on wavemaker and now they are both constantly on. I have a jbj aio tank so these pumps are used in the back chambers as return pumps.

^^ any ideas ^^ tank level will be fine and out of no where the water leva drops really low. Causing ato to turn on and then go on alarm mode after 10 min since it takes too long for water to refill to water line. Had my ato stall twice on me already when I was away for weekend. Thought it was the ato but its the pumps

Might have bad pumps, contact customer service. I have a bunch of mj pumps no issues with any of them

Pump may be to strong for your setup causing the water in your sump to lower
