Well, the outer valence shell electrons(-3) are exactly opposite of copper(+3)(which is bad for the tank)

It won't rust, but it sure will oxidize and I don't think that would be good for the tank. Any extra metals will throw off the water chemistry.

I wouldn't use it unless you could plastic coat it.

Does it have to do with Phosguard?

If yes, guess how I know

I think Randy Holmes have done a study on it. Call him what he thinks.

When did you learn the psychic power to read my mind?:scratchch

You must have seen the phosguard reactor in Mary's tank. I was doubting the use of aluminium oxide in Phosguard in relation to her tank's performance.

If an aluminum alloy is submersed in SW, is it going to cause a major issue?

Not sure totally about the aluminum (although I wouldn't put it in my tank). However, the alloy part scares me even more. What is the makeup of this alloy you refer to? There are a plethora of metals you wouldn't want in your tank.

I believed Phosguard has aluminium oxide or something like that in it and wonder why the product did not seem to tell the consumer about it. I was observing my friend's tank reactions to the product(she has built a Phosguard reactor) and thus wonder anyone here can contribute their experience or expertise.

After reviewing my first post, I think I should rephrase to aluminum compound instead alloy.

Titanium is SW safe - they use it as the heat exchanger in chillers, other than that I think pretty much everything else oxidises (rusts) including S.steel
