Yes, be patient, keep your ALL of your parameters spot on and provide enough flow and lighting and coralline will grow.
Best to 'seed' your tank with the color coralline you want to grow. Get a small rock of the color coralline you want (it does come in different colors!) and then 'shave' it off the surface of the rock (in little bits) and let it circulate in your tank.
Do not use Purple Up!!!

There are three things that will grow Coraline.

1. Coraline itself. It must be added to the tank to grow in yours. It can come from adding in a piece of live rock with it, or through frags and snail shells. Once it grows on the glass, scrape it off to help it spread.

2. Proper parameters. Keep your alk, ca, and mag in check, and keep nitrates and phosphates low. Carbon/GFO/ etc

3. Time. It will take months. Sometimes, inverts like urchins will eat it all.

Anything else, especially anything that doesn't tell you whats in it (Purple-Up) is a lie, and most likely worse off for your aquarium.

I think purple up is just liquified aragonite, just like aragamilk. It won't harm anything or throw cal/alk balance off. IMO you are much better with a 2 part like b-ionic. My tank is 5 months old started with dry rock. I have coraline growing all over using b-ionic.

Everything what everyone else said !!! But if you don't have livestock . Don't use the white lights keep your actinics on , coraline grows faster under actinics . Also it's a good idea when you see some coraline grow scrap it and sprinkle it around . It will help seed your tank faster.. Patients !!
