good deals at the frag swap?

Greetings everyone,

I have finally have all the equipment to set up my reef tank, and have it set up for close to two months. Now, I plan to get some soft corals, and fishes but was wondering if I should wait for the fall MR swap meet to see what kinds of deals and variety are available compare to sites like reef2go. Please chime in with your opinions or ideas. Thank you.

+1 ...just about every coral in my tank was from members selling frags....thanks MR members!

A member since 2006 and you just set up a tank 2 months ago? You sure like to take your time! LOL Why don't you tell us about your system so we can make sure you are good to keep corals before you go and buy some and risk killing them and wasting your money?

I like to take my time and do things to my liking. :smile: I had to first get into a more or less permanent home, which I finally did last year. Then I had to wait to get the right lighting for the tank. After a lot of research on the different reef light tech, I finally settled on the Orphek 72 pendant as the best one for my system.


My system:
a used 39 gal cadlight pro, from a friend
Orphek 72 pendant

60 pounds of dry rocks, 20 pound of sands and rock rubbles
that have been seeded with Garf grunge and some live rocks.

two home made algae scrubbers, a vertical one and a smaller horizontal one

lifeforms:
2 green clown gobies
2 Kaudern's cardinals
1 hi fin red banded goby
a feather duster worm

some mushroom corals and some polyps
a lot of snails and lots and lots of pods

I may get some more life stocks in two weeks or wait until the fall swap meet.
