Cycling a tank outside of the tank

Anyone know if its possible to cycle dead rock and sand in a brute garbage can and then transfer sand, rock and water to the display tank once its cycled?

Looking to do an upgrade but do not have space for two tanks to be up and running at the same time and I want to be able to transfer over all livestock to the new tank which will have new rock and sand.

Yah just cycle the rock , use either raw shrimp or pure ammonia like you would any other tank and the rock will cycle

Its not neccessary to put the sand in as the sand doesnt really play a big role in filtration its mostly for decor unless you do a dsb which cannot be moved anyway
