I have a six line in my 29gal and he is so aggressive w/ food that other fish cannot eat and feeding corals is nearly impossible.

He is a quick and agile swimmer so he easily can outcompete everyone for the food. he also scares my clowns when he sprints past them stealing the food from out of their mouths... literally.

Im worried about two things: 1. docile fish starving and 2. the wrasse eating himself to death. (almost every day his stomach looks as though it could burst)

I know feeding corals with him is always going to be hard but is there anything i can do to "chill him out" a bit?

ive heard of people putting them in their sump for a month or so to halt territorial behavior, but nothing about aggressive eating.

anyone know of a solution to this problem or dealt with something similar?

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes placing the fish somewhere else could be a temporary solution, but in most occasions the temperament or personality of the fish will eventually come back and the territorial behavior returns as well. Ive had a bad experience with a flame angel that used to pick on my sps like crazy. Some other people had one with no issues...the six line can follow the success/ problem path just as much. If i were you i would get him out of the tank, since his behavior is impacting all the others.
I love shrimp in reef tanks, but its nearly impossible to feed the corals with them...so i had to choose corals over them...good luck with your decision!

what a decision...

my cleaner shrimp is always stealing food from the corals. ive been just chasing him away with my feeding stick until the food is completely taken in by the coral.

thanks for the advice!
