I got this mushroom about a week ago, I've moved it around a few times coz it seems to be reaching for the light. Does that mean I gotta put it higher in tank or what?

it will be fine there, but it will probably move over on it's own because it is reaching for the direct light...they are weeds and will grow practically anywhere..they are known for detaching and bouncing around the tank which is why many SPS guys don't like them

Wow I just got schooled big time. Nowhere did it say this info thanks. If it needs direct light why can't I just move it its only attached to a lil rock pebble. Can they be on the sand or have to be on a rock?

I bought red mushrooms in the past and they were really nice until they started moving around and blocking light over other expensive zoas and corals...they never stop moving, might stay somehwere for a few months but sooner or later a few will start stretching out and splitting their bases going else where. I dont keep them anymore because of that. They add nice color though

Get rid of it!! I hate red mushrooms. Grows everywhere. I bought aiptasia x to kill them. Lol. The sting my Sps.

These r not ur regular red shrooms. They r crazy bright the pic does it no justice.

I think if ur able to put it a lil higher I would. These never stretched like that in my tank.

Shrooms grow under damn near everything, so I wouldn't worry about moving it higher. That's normal behavior for them trying to get more direct light. If you don't like the stretch you can move it out of the shade, though there is nothing inherently stressful or unhealthy about what it's doing right now.

Also my light are on 25% max power I'm still acclimating everything to them so maybe eventually when I raise the light power it will get more light.

Your having problems with shrooms????? Shrooms are close to if not considered a pest coral. They can grow in anything with zero water movement with ammonia high nitrates and po4. I had my 120 closed for 4 months with no heat, light or water movement and when i started anew tank up and put old rocks in a new system they were fine. Just leave it alone

Your asking questions about mushroom corals but try to give advise in other threads like you know what you are doing. If you have to ask questions on shrooms dont give advise on other topics. You proven my point with this thread that you have no clue what your doing. I gave you advise on your shroom so how didnt i contribute to your pest coral thread???????? Leave it alone. It doesnt need any light, any flow you can put it on the sand ,under the rock,on a powerhead its a mushroom it will grow and spread anywhere you place it just leave it alone. You dont want my opinion i wont give you any anymore.
