Ok, here is a small video of the shrimp entering and escaping the trap. Now I've tried several different mod's to this trap, and so far I think this is the best option. Essentially I built a long skinny plexi box to fit into the area in the tank nearest the shrimp. The opening for the shrimp to enter is about the size of a dime. With this option the shrimp stays in the trap for almost three minutes before he figured out how to exit. Time to add a trap door I guess. Take a look, I sped up the video. In real time this portion is about three minutes.

Great video. The problem with your 'trap' is that it isn't a trap, it's an enclosure. The very nature of a trap is to encourage entrance and restrict exit. All the pistol needed to do was follow the upper contour of the enclosure to lead it to the exit. ;) If a funnel effect were there, the shrimp wouldn't have been so quick to figure it out.

That was a very good attempt and you were successful in luring it in, now you need to refine the trap and keep him in it.
