6" carpet anemone is now the size of a quarter

Can anyone explain why this would happen. It's been this way for a while. When I first got it, it was nice and full. My Picasso clowns started hosting and all was well and healthy. Over time it kept shrinking and is about the size of a quarter I haven't checked my parameters but will update with it tomorrow. Any info would help. All other corals are doing well. But I have basic stuff. Like Xenia anthalia some zoos Nepthia blue sponge candy canes

Anemoe's are known shrink and move around the tank. How long has it been like this?

Do you know what kind of carpet it is? A pic would probably help ID it.

From what I know, usually when an anemone shrinks like it that, it is mainly due to water conditions and/or chemical warfare.

It could also be strong lighting/ change in lighting too fast

been like this for about 2 months. never had issues with ammonia nitrates ... but i have had issues with phosphates and use chemi pure elite to control it where it stays around 2. useing metal halides 20k 150w and the anemone stays very close to the top

What you mean by stays close to the top? If it's a carpet anemone, it must have its foot buried in sand, therefore a deeper sand bed is usually essential for these anemones to thrive. However, if you don't have much sand, a piece of pvc pipe does the trick.
