Tank weight question...

You wanna know what the builder told me when i asked could i install a tank that weighs 2000 lbs (he didnt ask where i would put it.) He said.... "you should be fine." SHOULD

When you calculate the weight of the tank you also want to add the weight of the people looking at it.
I would be generous and add 1,000 - 1,500 lbs for a 6' tank. Consider it the worst case scenario but you get 4 or 5 adult guys around a tank that are between 200- 250 each you are talking about a lot of extra stress.
Im not a big guy but I weigh 215. 4 of me is almost half a ton.
This is something you have to consider on top of the tank weight.

Thanks for the help Russ. And Imbarrie thats a good point. I think the main strain is when something heavy puts continious stress over long periods of time. So people dont count for the slow growing damage.

But def for the instant crash!!! I should def think about the 2000lbs tank, plus 1000lbs people.
