Hey all,

I have a reef octopus bh-100 hob skimmer that's currently on my 55g DT. I recently added a sump 2-3 months ago and am putting my heater down there and have the chaeto and dry rock rubble in there for now but I wanted to get the skimmer off the DT. The skimmer is really tall since it's made to hang on the back. Has anyone put the hob skimmer on the sump instead of the DT? It won't fit on my sump because the bottom of the skimmer would sit on the stand and the pump would be above the water line. Should I raise the water line in the sump (assuming during a power outage It still won't overfill) and raise my sump with wood 2x4's or something? Anyone else have anything like this if you're following me... I kind of did things a little backwards but hey, I need to work with what I got.

I did the same thing with my first sump.
I just made a custom sump for the water levels I needed. I used only 10g sump so I made a few until I got it right.
Was kind of a pain though and eventually got an in sump (which I highly recommend if you have the $)

I was using a prism hob though.

I don't have the funds right now but I always constantly check the marketplace. The sump goes where the overflow would be right? The space is very small. Its where I have my filter sock, then the center is more open I have chaeto and rock rubble is going in there after I rinse it, also the float switch for my ATO, then the return section has my pump.
