What's up guys? I have just returned from vacation & brought home some rubble rock from Aruba. Some of the rock has coralline algae on it. (That's what it looks like atleast) I'm not sure if I should put it into my tanks..... I've been posting with questions on stocking the tank & totally forgot about my rock questions. Lol

The system is still in the very young stages & if anything still cycling. I did test the water I brought it home in & levels were fine, actually the specific gravity was really high......1.030

Not that I will add the water, but would it be ok to add the rock?

I don't mean to sound like a nerd, but it would be super cool if I could put it into the tank or fuge.

Anyways thanks again everyone is great with info & sharing their experience. I love Manhattan reef!

How'd u bring back water too??

Neways cool bc I brought home dry rock from both aruba and hawaii. So cool to have them in my tank with life on it

I used a kids toy bucket to get from the beach to my room, then transferred it into the stainless steel ice bucket & left outside in the heat till ready to leave. Once I was packing to come home I used a wide mouth bottle for the smaller pieces & a heavy duty zip lock for the larger ones. Lol

Wrapped them up tight & put inside a cooler & into the luggage. Kept my fingers crossed & came home. Thankfully nothing opened!!
Like I said its mainly rubble rock but still some cool looking rock with lots of life in it.

You may have to cure the rock again. That's what I have done with rubble I have found in florida on the beach.

Last time I was on vacation to the Florida keys I found rocks and bagged them, put them in a small styrofoam cooler then boxed it and went to the ups store and had it shipped.i also shipped about 100 or so red mangrove pods that where littered all over the place.i didn't want to take the chance of having my luggage overweight.lol
