So I finally hooked up my apex after having it in a box for few months. Been missing out, this thing is truly amazing. I linked everything to wifi and hooked up my email notifications. Now that I've taken care of that I've hit a wall when it came to accessing it out of network (via iphone 4G LTE).

Tried calling Apex but the freaking guy put on hold while he went to deal with another caller, making it seem that he was looking up how to help me. (found that really disrespectful and disappointing).

So what I am looking to get help with is to get remote access to the Apex. I am using Linksys E1500 as my router. Can anyone please tell me what I should do. Thank you in advance all of the suggestions are appreciated.

If you assigned a different port to your Apex, forward that port instead of 80.

Thanks Widdy,
Thats where the confusing stuff came in to factor. My internal port selected is 80 and the other one is 9900 (according to the apex manual). The questions is, after the static IP is obtained, do I input the data into a space below from the current apex port forwarding or do I replace it? Thanks

Your Apex should only have 1 port, by default it'll be 80 (Standard HTTP port). Many people will re-assign this port because it's either blocked by their ISP (to prevent webservers being installed on residential internet) or they already have a web server sitting on 80.

So say the IP address to your Apex is 192.168.1.15 Port 80.

c

External/Internal port will be 80. Protocol Both is fine. To IP Address is .15 for the last octet. (Obviously .15 is just an example, plug in your Apex IP)

I had that set up when I did my network. Just now I tried replacing the external port from 9900 to 80. Apex is still responding to network but when I tried using my iphone it tells me that its "the request time out". Should I enable the "DHCP" in the Neptune network configuration window? I am not even sure what that does.

When using your iPhone are you using your external IP address?

http://www.whatismyip.com/ will tell you what your IP address is. You can leave the Apex on static IP, you don't want that changing or you'll have to modify the port forward to reflect the new IP.

When testing, use a web browser on your phone, the Apex app will add another layer of unknown. Make sure it's accessible from the outside first, then config the Apex app. Also temporarily turn off Wifi on your phone so it's on 4G/4GLTE or whatever is available to you, or it'll be accessing the Apex from within your network.

I am not sure what you mean by the external IP when using the Iphone. I could use the app while entering the same IP that is in my port forwarding on the router. I tried using the same app without wifi and it gives me the error message. I aslo dont know how to run the apex from my web browser on my phone.

The 192.168.1.X is a internal IP, it's not accessible from the Internet. If you go to the link above, that website will tell you what your external IP is, that is assigned to your internet provider.

You will then open Safari or whatever browser you use on your iPhone, and plug in http://external IP or http://external IP:port #.

You're welcome. Look into a dynamic DNS service provider so you don't have to remember your external IP. And more importantly if your ISP changes your IP (probably not frequent, but it does happen and when it does, it is without your knowledge) the dynamic DNS client installed on your PC will update it.

I use www.no-ip.org but there's a few out there to choose from.
