Large Hermit crabs - reef safe??

I bought 3 normal sizes hermit crabs about 6 months ago - I recently noticed they moved in to large empty snail shells - like 1//2 dollar size.

Question - Are they reef safe??

good point - I don't see them now when I see them later today or tonight ill upload photo. I didn't notice any big meat eating claws or damage to any corals other than knocking everything over like a bull in a china shop.

From what I hear the hermit crabs like to change shells from time to time. So if you have snail in the tank as well. The crab will kill the snail for its shell. It's recommended to buy empty shells and scatter them around the tank, so the crabs won't bother your snails.
