Its between the Avast Marine K2 reactor, or the new KalkKing system. Iv heard great things about both of them.

The Avast is a traditional stirring type reactor that has been bulletproof for many, with negative reviews being very hard to find.

The Kalk King was recommended by a friend and seems very well thought out. It comes with a PH probe, a bunch of fail safes, and will even top off rodi if the ph is too high. more info can be found here,

If im going to spend the money, I want to do it once and do it right. This will be running on my 150gal SPS ULNS upgrade for a long time so this is an investment (I keep telling myself)

Did you see the new one MRC has? I don't know much about the kalk king but if you are going with a stir bar Deltec would be my first option and then Avast.

+1, on Deltec KM 500 S i have one, i may sale it, first u have to understand how works, then ........why u think they ask for $ 750, Very Smart Design . Is not just a Acrylic reactor, u dosing , clear water , good Alk, great PH on safe way.

I guess the main reason for this unit is it monitors pH as well and turns off the reactor so it doesn't raise your pH too high. It's more of a peace of mind. It seems to be a kalk reactor, ph controller, ATO unit all in one.

I went ahead and ordered the Kalk King.
Iv been tagging along/ asking questions on a few good Kalk related threads and from what I gather is yes, a slow stir is best in a reactor. It should not be fully air tight either. The volume of water going through the reactor is changing therefore making the amount of kalk needed changing, creating inconsistency. The Avast unit is not sealed at the top, adding to it being a solid reactor choice.

The Kalk king comes with a ph probe, and a standalone module that controls the ph, drip rate, kalk mixing times, and top off. Add a higher float switch to back the whole system up via apex for redundancy. Im trying to get ahold of all of this because a good calcium reactor is my next upgrade and they work and in hand with kalkwasser dosing.
