Hey.
Im all for fail-safe's and redundancy these days. Especially after recently hearing on the television and the internet that this hurricane season will be a VERY active one!

I hope everyone has their generators gassed up with extra gas on hand in case of anything unfortunate. Knock on wood.

On top of these concerns, Im going to be away from my system a bit this coming fall, so I purchased a RKE NET package from a fellow member. I need to be able to make changes via the computer from a distance so I'm going to set it up to a DNS and domain name in order to remotely monitor and access. As well as Email alerts !!
This is where I need a lot of help!
I am hoping that anybody with IT or Network Troubleshooting experience, or anybody who knows the ropes of hooking any controller up via a DNS, can respond or send me a PM! Im more than willing to compensate anyone who can help get the controller functioning and online.
Im in mid Suffolk, If you are willing to help, please let me know!
Thanks everybody. If youd like to Email me its: [email protected]

RKL Net is a horrible product. I had it for 2 months and sold it for a Apex.

You can't NAT it out from your router to a public IP address without using DDNS (that works half the time). Where as I NAT'd it to a public IP i have assigned to my firewall then added the host A record to my sites DNS and it didnt work.

I did debugs on the firewall and come to find out the NET mod didnt even reply to SYN ACK requests. It was NATing properly and it just sat there not replying to packet requests.

I went on the forums and an admin told me this was on purpose because 'to keep the product at that price point they could NOT add the added security' so they just dropped it all together.

RKL is a subpar product. With all the money you will spend on the RKL + mods, just get a APEX Jr.

Hey, or how about the time I had BRS 1.1ml dosers and the RKL didnt realize they were on and dosed my tank ALK for 6 hours and got my tank to 15dkh?

Because the doser use such a low voltage, the RKL didnt know they were stuck on. Happened 3 times in one month.

So you cant use RKL to dose either without worrying that will happen. Solid product for sure.

Dosing pumps connected to channels 1 and/or 4 will work perfectly fine for literally 100's of thousands of cycles, just like on the Apex, Profilux or any other controller that use mechanical relays to change the outlets "State" be it on or off.

When dosing pumps such as the BRS units are controlled on channels 2 and/or 3 SOME people have had problems w the solid state relays on those channels getting "Stuck" in an "ON" state. The RKE is
Not the only controller that can have this happen. One way to help w the issue is to power the dosers via small
Surge suppresses which help stop the
Voltage leak issue.

Just some info

Thank you Skene for that great link to the DA forum. Thread. I dont know how I didnt stumble across that thread in countless hours spent on that forum.
Ive decided to go with a dedicated hosted server space and ddns along with upgrading my optimum online service to the Ultra 50. This opens the right ports. And allows me tech support that I NEED and sitebuilder software.
Im not in the clear just yet.

Does anyone know if the "bus" canles that connect all of the modules csn be vpurchased at a store like Radio Shack or BestBuy? Or are they so unique I must go through Digital Aquatics?

And BTW I dont have the Lite version I have the Elite v.2
So the referrence to price point for the RKLite makes sense considering its about $100 compared to RKE NET at an almost exact price as the Apex at $449-$499. Plus separate modules and probes/switches.
Thanks guys. I may need some more help, even tjough I have all of thr best How-To and tutorials from all over the web.
