I think you need to be a licensed electrician to do this kind of install. And don't forget you need to tap into your gas pipe.

These are not cheap. I've been researching this type of generator for a while. I dont want to speak for Mike, but I saw that this specific model goes for $1800 at Lowes, and that doesn't include the price for installation. From the research I've done, you can expect to pay anywhere from $2,000-5,000 or more for the install. It's also not something you want to attempt on your own.

thanks guys...I got it from Home Depot..they have them in stock online and takes about two weeks for free curbside delivery.. I used their card and got twenty four month interest free. I'm still shopping around for a licensed installer...done right it will cost more than the unit itself..

Price depends on how you wire it in but the largest cost is probably hooking up gas.
Generac is the brand to beat though.

Make sure you get a licensed experienced plumber. There are alot of what we call Sandy Plumbers that popped up out of the woodwork. The Grid wont gas you in if they dont follow code. Source: I'm a national grid tech.

I'll be ordering a 20kw once I'm in the new house for a few months. They run about $6500 delivered and my cousin who's a licensed electrician will be installing it.

We don't have gas in the area were moving. I have a 500pound propane cylinder in the ground.

I'm also on a well so without electricity I won't have water so the generator is a must.

I'm almost, ALMOST looking forward to the generator as much as the house.
