yes 3/4 ply glue and screww should take care of the lateral

As the wood dries out though its going to warp and twist, you could wind up having a cracked tank, much easier to buy a few Doug fir 2x4's and do it the right way. Hope your not gonna use that 4x4 stand, it's a disaster waiting to happen
