And the cut outs make nice over flow lids to keep the snails and fish out ;)

There is another option you know? I used NEOPRENE, the same thing you make wet suits out of. It is soft & rubbery and easier to cut and work with. Much cheaper than cutting board. I could do a few tanks with half the price of cutting board.

NEOPRENE IMOP is a bad move it is soft allowing detritus to get underneath it and this allows it to become a detritus trap.

See in the right hand corner how it lifts up? Well that's were the detritus goes to rot turning into phosphates (food for algae) ;)

Looks nice thou ;)
Cheep is not always better.

silicone dose not addheer to cutting board if you use 3/4 inch it is heavy and as long as you cut it one inch short all the way around so it don't sit on top of the tanks silicone that was used to put the tank together you will be fine.
Also the idea for this is the one inch gap around the tank allows room for the detritus to settle and thus making it easyer to siphon out. (Not easily achieved with neoprene)
Removing detritus ASAP prevents it from braking down and turning into phosphates.
You must export what you import;)
