Metal stand users help!

Is it normal for the metal stand to be slightly smaller than the tank. I have a 180g on metal stand. I can just fit the tips of my fingers under the tank overlapping the metal stand.

Looks like its okay because the amout that overlaps is just plastic trim. The actual glass seems to be supported.

Just wondering if everyone out there has tanks that are milimeters wider than the metal stand.

I would use a sheet of plywood just for safe measure

The stand is supposed to come out to the outside edge of the tank

Who made your tank? Usually tanks with plastic edges are marineland and other larger companies and they recommend wood stands. Never the less please use 3/4 oak plywood. Not CDX or some crap that isn't 100% flat. Please also get foam for on top the plywood and make sure everything is 100% level.

Update.... i built a new stand out of 4x4 and also have a sheet of foam over. It will be leveled! Petland is comming to pick up their stand they agree that the stand should have supported the entire botom.
