Anychance do you have a frag rack you can put the zoa's on?if so place the zoa's halfway and you can eliminate the pest problem if there is any.then you can pin point the problem one at a time, lower your phosphates, nitrates(not sure who told you the tank needs to be dirty)I have a mixed reef in a low nutrient tank and everything is thriving.i do feed my coral with coral frenzy once or twice a week.my setup consist of the following LED's,gfo, carbon reactors, refugium with miracle mud, various types of macro algae,8hours during the day skimming.

Yep Im going back to low nut. did a massive 30 gallon water change, removed all rockwork, Scrubbred a few rocks, vacuumed the sand bed, wet skimmed for 24 hours, new rowaphos. So I would expect that I have moved the needle by half and dropping.

Thanks everyone! I started a nano 12 gal and placed some trade zoa in there with only a firefish and a tome of macro algae with the seed water from the main display and everything is open and looking nice. I didn't want to believe my well behaved yellow angel fish (one false lemonpeel and one true lemonpeel) It seems they like dragons eyes and green polyps but left other polyps be.
Live and learn.
