Well I did not have much time for my tank and with a seemed like a blink of an eye any rocks that did not have coral on it had Bryopsis Algae !!!

I now have pulled what I could getting my mag up and ordered a cleanup crew from foster and smith!!!

Every in the tank is doing great, my sps grows just as fast as the Bryopsis Algae!!! but it has to go as there is little room in my tank and I want to put coral where ever I can.... How long should it take to rid the tank of the Bryopsis Algae along with the cleanup crew I am going to do some agressive water changes!!

Good luck, what exactly did you order, nothing eats that crap. I think tuxedo urchin eat bryopsis. Some one here had a similar issue, and he used a nudibranch and mexican turbo snails..Maybe you can get in touch with him and borrow/buy is nudibranch since he doesn't need it anymore.

+10. Slowly raise your mag to just over 1600. Keep it there till it's gone plus a week or 2.

And only Tech M seems to work.

None of those will touch the Bryopsis except the TechM.

Mexican Turbo snails. Some time ago when I had a similar problem I used to move snails manually to the effected area, Once they moved somewhere else I repeated the process. It worked.

I'm currently going through the same problem. All the reading I've done, Kent tech M seems to be the only sure fire solution. Seems to take about a month or so with the Mg raised to 1600.

The problem with tech m is that, once the mag or whatever us in that stuff returns to his normal level, what briopsis is left will grow back, I also suggest if you can take the rock that has the algae out-of the water, dip it in peroxide. Take some of the water from the rank, add a few capful of peroxide and let it sit for 5 minutes, you'll see the briopsis turn white and die within a day or so.

I have heard success stories, using all kinds of methods, but most of the people dealing with briopsis ended up redoing the tank, or throwing away the rock that is effected. Keep us posted on what you do.

I don't know if it is related in some way but, I have always dipped my new frags in a peroxide mix. The bryopsis seems to be worse on the plugs now, almost as if something in the peroxide is feeding it. After dipping, I rinse in some tank water, the algae dies off, then begins to grow again...thicker then it started out.
I don't know about the OP, but removing affected LR is not an option. Just picked up Tech M at Aqua Hut...gonna see how this goes.
