Can somebody explain to me how to get the apex to send texts when it hits a certain point.I got the text to work and got the test message. But how do you program the outlets to send a text for example water temp hits 82 I get a text or I just want to be alerted when something hits a high mark. Also Is there a way to get a everyday update once a day even when there is no alarm.I would like to get one message a day when nothing is wrong just to know the message did not fail.I was reading about the guy from penn state who suffered great loss due to the message fail.

Regarding your first questions, you need to program an email outlet.

Basically: "if there is a problem, set on".

Here is mine, attached to outlet "base_email"

Set OFF
If Switchx5_1 CLOSED Then ON
If Temp < 74.0 Then ON
If Temp > 85.0 Then ON
If Power EB8_3 Off 000 Then ON
If Power EB8_4 Off 000 Then ON

As for your second question, maybe set that stuff on a timer: same program, but add "if Time 20:00 to 20:01 Then ON" ?

To get a status email every day at 7A add this to the emailalm outlet

if time 07:00 to 07:01 then on

This is correct but it also depend what time of the day you want to be alert. Just change the time according to your needs.
As for when temperature reaches a certain point either low or high this is what you can use and change it according to your needs
If Temp > 81.0 Then ON
If Temp < 77.0 Then ON

If you want a text message to be sent to your cell, go to"
Configuration > Network Set up
in Alt to: address you will need to enter: [email protected] (your cell# in xxx field)
if it is AT&T service. if other provider, you would need to google the exact path.
Then you would need to program your email outlet. For example this is what I have:

Set OFF
If Temp > 82.1 Then ON
If Temp < 75.0 Then ON

You would need to remember that if (like in my example) the temp goes over 82.1 you will get text messages one after another. This is what happened to me last year untill I exceeded my 200 message threshold with AT&T.
If for any reason you don't need text message anymore just delete the cell # and the path from Alt to: address field.

Neptune is the annoying party. The unofficial guide was put together by a hobbyist that recommended GMX because of its SMTP without SSL Encryption. When Neptune inducted the "unofficial guide" into their support structure, they didn't stop to think why it might be a bad idea "suggesting" the usage of someone else's email platform for it's own customers. They could've put up a SMTP server(s) and registered a domain, neptuneapex.com for example, coincidentally that domain is available right now. John Doe would register an available name ([email protected]) and an SMTP account would be created, and John Doe would just point his Apex to their own SMTP relays. But of course, there's no money in added value.

Totally agree with that, it is not as if it is super hard to set up an SMTP server!

What shocks me is that despite the fact that I bought some of my equipment from Neptune directly, I never received any notifications about that GMX change. Without this thread I would not have tried myself and realized something was amid with my settings.

I kind of lucked out and tested all my equipment and notifications before heading to vacation early August. I wasn't receiving notifications, so I switched to SendGrid's SMTP and it worked. Not having time to troubleshoot and figured it was an error on my part, I just shrugged it off. Had I have known, I would've made a post on it. :(

Fusion would be interesting. Not sure if data would be stored on their servers, we'll have to see.
