Tank Keepers while on Vacation

My GF runs a cat sitting business where she essentially gets paid $30-$40 to visit a home for about 30min to an hour each time to apply medication, play with the cat a bit and make sure it's fed and has water.

I'm curious if there are tank sitters in the tri-state area who do the same thing. I know there are larger aquarium servicing companies that cater to larger reefs and offices but I imagine they charge over a $100 per visit.

It would be nice to have someone who I can pay about $30-$40 to visit my tank one or two days if I'm gone for a week to feed some frozen food and make sure my RODI reservoir is full, empty my skimmer cup, etc.

we should work out a buddy system with reefers who live nearby, i'll take care of yours if you take care of mine.

It would be great i wouldnt mind helping someone out on staten island if they could help me out , i usually end up leaving instructions for my mother but its alot of work i have 3 tanks and never looks pretty when i get back !

You can always ask your favorite LFS to handle these duties if they do maintenance. Most will charge a feeding rate... Which means go in... Feed the fish and maybe top off the water keeping it simple... Otherwise you can have them do maintenance on the tank while you are gone.

I am in for hicksville area as long as you are not too far at no charge. I watched over two of my very close friends tanks while they were on vacation one is right across the street who has three 10 gal tanks one reef and other fish only saltwater and second friend has 90 gal reef and they did the same while i was on vacation for 8 days. I agree with buddy system and but if someone is watching over your system then you should be ready to return the favor back when it's needed. I have so many examples with my reef tank and my friends tanks and it pays big time to have someone who you can call in case of emergency......
