I've had the same Linckia Multiflora in my tank for over two years now. It has dropped a leg or two here and there. Well the last time I saw it was about 5 or 6 months ago. I figured it was long gone. Lets face it, this is slow moving but not tiny. Invariably I'd see it at least every few weeks.

Well after 6 months, I saw it tonight for the first time. As you can see in the pic, there is one leg noticeably shorter than the other four. I'm guessing it dropped this leg somewhere in the tank. It will most likely grow into another adult Linckia over the course of the next 12 - 18 months.

Anyway, lets start a thread that addresses the livestock in our tanks that have disappeared and then resurfaced months later.
I'll kick it off with........
the Linckia Multiflora as of tonight:

I thought I lost the red ricordea in the picture to the right 2 years ago! I use to have it before I converted to BB. However, just recently I noticed it on my live rock. I am shocked by its reappearence, :D  .

here is a close up of what I've lost in my tank, more of them than I can count. So far they have not come back no matter how hard I look for them.

Russ....this one's for you!

I bought some pacific firezoos from Masterswimmer. After a few weeks they suddenly disappeared from the plug they were glued to. I searched high and low and could not find them.

A few weeks ago I upgraded my powerhead to a Seio from Masterswimmers group buy. The next day a clump of zoos appeared in the front of my tank. Sure enough they were the pacific firezoos. They were now twice their original size. This time I glued them to a rock.

Craig, that's a story I can appreciate!! Glad they made a reappearance.

a cleaner wrasse missing for 4 months has just made a showing and also a pistol shrimp havnt seen him since he was in the bag the day i bought him just seen him yesterday 5 months later

That's awesome. You just reminded me of my pistol shrimp. Same EXACT story. I know he's still alive because I see his excavation work every day. But I never see him. Last time I saw him was in the bag. Fortunately he made his home under a rock in the front of my tank, so I see his 'work'. I did put a yasha hase goby in with him (from the same bag). That's one fish I NEVER saw again (been over a year too). For all I know he could be living under the same rock.

Good stories, keep them coming.

Strawberry crab that came along when I owned my first SW tank just resurfaced after 7 months of hiding. I have seen him only the first week and today. This make me wonder if the black and white crab I have comes from the tank or from rocks/coral I put in later.:scratchch

i dont no if they were broken tentacles, usually starfish let go of half or so of there tentacles and those become new starfish evenutally..

i just found a white starfish after almost 8-9 months of my tank being up...

I'm also wondering if this starfish is the one before June, but it did grow with all new tentacles...

Several months ago, my green BTA died :( shortly after I upgraded my nano from 10g to 15g. The nano has an Aquaclear power filter which I converted to a refuge/sump area. Not long ago, I noticed a blob of pink "flesh" on the sides of the filter. I left it since it didn't move much and seemed responsive to light. Now that it has moved right up to the water's edge, these are the best pictures I could manage. It's no more than 1/4" across.
