Diablo DCS 200 skimmer

I have a Diablo DCS 200 skimmer that just decided to quit working. The dcs 5500 motor will not run at all. Skimmer is 8 months old very odd for it to just quit.

My real concern is how long can the tank go without a protein skimmer?

Have you tried to take the motor out and see if there is something caught in there or if the impeller has broken?

The tank will be fine without a skimmer for a while. Try not to overfeed while you get this fixed (or replaced), and keep up with your water changes. Not an emergency to have a skimmer off line for a while

(assuming that you don't have a really heavy fish load, and you have good circulation in the tank - enough to keep the surface tension of the water broken so you have good oxygen exchange)

If the pump is def bad ask the manufacturer to put a rush on the replacement assuming you bought it new. If you end up losing sleep over not skimming, change water every week until u get a new skimmer.

I run a the dcs 150 in my office tank... I love that skimmer. Great choice but even the best can have a problem.

I appreciate all the feedback. Before posting the pump was removed and inspected for anything that could impede its performance, none found.

Tanks has plenty of circulation for great oxygen exchange.

Will perform 10 gallon water changes weekly until the pump or skimmer is replaced.
