Hi MR,

I am planning to have glass tank build. Is there any local builders. This tank will be 277 gal tank 48"x36x36. Please let me know if you know of anyone locally who builds glass tanks.

Thanks,

Rav

Better read the reviews on glass cages. Have heard some good, some bad and some HORRIBLE reviews of their workmanship.
Id more go with DSA(Deep Sea Aquatics) before them. They have dealers that they will ship tanks to all over the place NY places included.

That's the right way to do it. Research plenty, buy once, be happy.

One thing with DSA is they do not come with plumbing but you can make your own durso standpipes or order them from http://dursostandpipes.com and then cut your own return pipes. Not a big deal whichever way you go, just have to get your own loc line if making your own return plumbing.

Good luck on your shopping.

Anytime. I may seem like a **** sometimes but I truly do like to see successes for people in the hobby.

Really? I've always seen your posts as constructive and helpful, unlike many others around MR.

+1 on the plywood tank. Think it's a great use for an in wall situation. This way you build it yourself and only pay for one nice pane of glass!

Thanks. I guess its because whenever someone acts like a troll or chooses to come after me about a post or whatever(we all know the types I'm talking about) I have no qualms about going back at them sometimes with no filter lol. Some people will only see those posts of mine depending on what threads they look at.

From what I have heard Glass Cages is one of the cheaper custom tank builders around so if their prices are high you may be mortified by other custom builders quotes. In addition to those mentioned you can also check out Coast to Coast Aquariums (Toms River NJ), Miracles in Glass (Canada), Reef Savvy (Florida), AGE (Texas), or Great Lakes Aquariums (Minnesota I think).

I would be surprised if any of those builders are cheaper than Glass Cages, but most make some beautiful tanks. Great Lakes was priced competitively with Glass Cages from what I remember.

Cant knock anyone but I personally maintain at least 10 custom coast to coast aquariums and they are all built great and Chris is a great guy. Btw I have a few glass cages for my reptiles and they hold up but you can see a major, major difference in quality between glasscages and coast to coast.
