Quick RODI question

My wife dropped a pot on the faucet in the kitchen and broke it, so I needed to replace it. The aerator adapter I was using doesn't fit on the new faucet, so I figured I'd hard plumb the unit.

So here's the question... Does the saddle valve for the drain go before or after the trap? Does it matter?

i dont think it matters, no fumes can escape. but if i had room i would put it on top of the trap[before]
