Try keep your nurtients low. High nurtients make red slime grow faster. Bacteria plays a role. Cut back on lights and siphon has much red slime you can.
my alk was way high but I got that under control I think it was because i sold some corals mostly sps and kept dosing the same and the corals weren't using as much calcium no biopelets just gfo . calerpa and cheato in the fuge and skimming wet
i had a problem with red slime growing on my sand bed, i bought a product from ultra life called red slime remover it cleared all my red slime and sand bed is clear make sure u do a 25 % water change 48 hours after use and also its reef and fish safe long as ur do the water change and remover carbon filter while this product is being used
I figured it wasn't a good idea I didn't like the thought of chemicals I am trying to get rid of it naturally its not every where its like a six inch by three inch blob on a price of live rock I keep syphoning it put but it keeps reappearing in that same spot im not freaking out about it just curious if there is another way like an urchin or somthing
Bacterial supplements such as microbe-lift special blend, MB7, prodibo, and a few other will combat cyano without disrupting the balance in your system. There's something about dosing a system dependent on biological filtration, with antibiotic, that doesn't sound like a great idea to me.
I have a similar problem but if you keep siphoning it will eventually give up. But chances are it will be somewhere unless you get more nutrients out of the water. I just let it be as long as it stays in one small area. If you can take that rock out and brush it off that would help.
Ive been using coral snow mixed with cyanoclean for 5 days and im seeing some good results already. I didnt have a bad slime outbreak tho just a few small patches
Chemiclean will get rid of it but it'll come back if you don't change your routine. Carbon dosing will only add to your problem unless you use vinager. Vodka is no good. More flow in that area is a plus also.
