How much water are you looking to store would be the first question?

If 20 + gallons, many here use covered 'Brute' garbage cans as they do not leach anything into the water. You can also buy wheels for them to make them easy to move around.
Some use glass tanks with a cover on them.
Some other use those 5 G water jugs you find on water coolers.
There are also sources for larger containers that are approved for 'potable' water storage..which is what you need.

Ok thanks for the reply, I think I will go with the brute cans since Lowes & HD are close by. Is there any special cleaning I should do prior to use?

You could rinse with a good vinegar bath, and then rinse out really well and air dry. Or chlorine bleach, then a dechlorinator, rinse well..air dry.
No soap!
