Acans dying out of nowhere

So I had maybe 15-20 different acans that started to wither away little by little. Gave some that were left to a good friend, and now his are dying too. Levels were fine in both tanks. Im guessing maybe it was a bacterial infection of some sort, or maybe a LPS parasite? If anyone has a little more insight and can help me please let me know.:thanks:

hows the flow? lighting? Do you have angels or any particular fish, peppermints that may have a diet for Acans?

light: fathom led
fish : yellow tang, leopard wrasse, coris yellow wrasse, 2 pj cardinal, purple firefish, 2 firefish, foxface..
I did have a angel in there at one point and thats when i started noticing this happening so i took it out.

also : coral banded shrimp and fire shrimp

no corals were near the acans, my tank was acans in the left, zoas in the middle and torches etc on the right.

levels were spot on.


my tank is a 80 rimless, 2 mp40

I have had it happen more than once but each time it was just to one colony. And there was one or two heads left and after a while they regrew into full colonies.

Do you see any brown jelly like snot on them? Give them a dip in coral Rx or something similar. 2 little fish a dip also.

Did you check Salinity. Was there a swing in Alk. When you say melting are they STN from top. Are they RTN from top or bottom. Did you add a new frag or something lately.

no salinity swing. when i say melting. it would be one piece that didnt open. lights go off and i wake up and its skeleton. I lost all of my frags literally

i did see brown jelly at some point. I did dip but that did not help what so ever
