Hi I am in the process of putting together my 65gal RR build and would like opinions about internal return pumps. I know a lot of people use Danner mag drive pumps but I have herd they give off a lot of heat. I am looking to get 600-700 GPM and I was thinking Mag 9.5. But i would like to know what others are using? Sicca,Eheim,Deep Blue.... and what you like and dislike about them?

I have a Deep Blue 65g RR and use an internal Eheim. I was told by LFS that it generates the least amount of heat compared to the others. I like it and it runs quiet and is very powerful. I need to regulate the flow on the output, especially after I clean the pre-filter sponge.

I am also using an eheim pump on my setup. I have not noticed any issues with heat since running this pump. I cant compare thought because prior to i was running an external pump. I find the eheim pump to be very quiet and the pump/tank is in my family room

What ever you go with make sure it's a reliable brand. The return pump is one of the most important pieces of equipment and people always try to cut corners with cheap ones. I use a tunze 1073.050 because they are a solid company. I hear good things about eheim also

+1. Think of all the bad things that will happen to your tank if the return pump dies. For example - it's winter. IE it's cold out. You probably have your heaters in the sump. If the return pump poops out...display tank doesn't get heated and you get frozen fish sticks. I cheaped out with a return pump and am now paying the price having to pay again to get a reliable brand.

Tunze is good and Eheim is fantastic. Those Germans know how to make good pumps. I used an Eheim on my 55g and it was and still is a battleship. 1260, 1262, solid parts.
