Gate or Ball Valve

Which of the two is better for reducing flow from an external return pump ?

a ball valve works well for coarse adjustments
a gate valve works better for fine adjustments ( like for fine tuning a skimmer )

i would go gate valve. more precise... more expensive too

but they get stuck a whole lot less often than gate valves do
Worth the extra bucks imo

IMHO Ball valves for return pumps, gate valve for reactors, ball for chiller, gate for drains if doing bean animal.
