I'm getting on a plane tomorrow for a week and noticed a cyano patch I must've missed last water change. Should I elevate the frags I have in the sand till I get back, I have a piece of that eggcrate from a store and it's got 4" legs. Will the cyano get up there?

Cyano goes anywhere but seems to be discouraged from forming mats in places with currents. My first thought would be to increase flow across the coral if you don't have a flow already rather than move them. Let's see what the other reefers think.

You could try siphoning and filtering. It is probably better than nothing if you do not have make up water.

Individual bacteria are smaller than the openings in the filter bag cloth, but you will be able to collect the mats.

Is this a major breakout or only a blush of color?

I noticed the patch today, water change was last saturday(Rodii) and the entire sand bed is not looking good, I placed all my corals in there when the 120 started cycling again after a sump swap . It's always produced purple matting whenever I leave the white PC on for most of the day. But I have SPS in there and had no choice. Or do I?

Siphon it what you can get some erythromycin packets mix it with some tank water and turn I'd your pumps and just cover the spot with the solution leave the pumps off for a little bit do that every three days for 3 treatments leave your skimmer off it will go nuts but this will Kill it. I had some slime last year and tried this worked great never came back. It's one of the oldest form's if bacteria around.

Im in a catch 22 because I will be gone a week and have to use the white light bc the sps are in there. I could siphon out most of the slime but the sand beds getting thin.

This is a lesson learned,,, if I didn't add 30lbs of live rock and 20lbs of sand with a new sump on my 120 I wouldn't have this problem right now,,
