Dubs I don't recommend any power heads in a tank with anemones
All tanks in my system use penductors /eductors or wave boxes
If there is a power head even with a cover on it a anemone will find it when you sleep lol they never find there way in here when you are watching

+1 on being more concerned about it being so near a power head :( Is there a foam sleeve on the power-head? If not, I'd get one on there asap!

Typically they like to keep their foot buried somewhere out of the light..but it sounds like you probably have a renegade rbta..lol

A tube several inches long formed with plastic canvas (used for embroidery) with the end pinched shut is all you need to protect powerhead intakes from anemones...or should I have said that the other way round.

The physics is quite simple. The "suction" drops off rapidly with distance from the powerhead opening. I had a colony of eight very large anemones living under the powerhead and the tentacles never being sucked against the canvas even though the tentacles were brushing up against it.

I cut the canvas to just fit around the diameter of the powerhead inlet and used monofilament fishing line in a few places to sew the tube. I then stitched the bottom end shut and used a cable tie to secure the open end to the powerhead. I used this instead of foam because it did not collect debris.

I've had a green mini BTA living on the back glass of my nano for close to a year. It split about 6 months ago and the spawn also lived on the glass until it decided to wander over to the rock work just last month. The original is still living on the glass and my clowns do indeed do their little dance in it. It used to occasionally get a tentacle or two stuck in the sucker of the power filter (boo power filter in salt water, said it was a nano!) but I would just yank em out with some forceps and it went on with life. Now it's finally moved enough to the right where it doesn't get sucked in anymore.

I probably just have mental anemones. It doesn't even seem to care when I change water...

Dubs,

Anemones are naturally attracted to flow, it is how they exchange oxygen and waste. I would suggest moving the anemone and not being a renegade. Your tank and the inhabitants of the tank will be much happier, then if you had anemone soup.

Its not worth chancing it. I have seen anemones live happily on glass, most of those were magnificas and most were in tanks without powerheads.
