vitamin c dosing

iSo ive been reading up alot about vitamin c dosing following forums by pufferpunk he seems to be the man in this topic. My tank is doing great tested my levels yesterday and my levels are

i have 44 fish in a 180 gallon mixed reef with a 40 gallon sump so am gonna estimate it at 200 gallons for the calculations i ordered the sodium ascorbate 100 percent unbuffered from iherb the same one pufferpunk recommends. This is what he wrote up on his forum as to how to calculate how much

You will now need to do a little math. The amounts below are for 100 gallons of water so if you have 50 net gallons, cut the amounts shown below in half etc.

Dosing amounts using I-herb product:
1/4 tsp=1112 mg.

For every 100 gallons:

5 ppm ----- 1892 mg VC
10 ppm ---- 3785 mg VC
15 ppm ---- 5677 mg VC
20 ppm ---- 7570 mg VC
25 ppm ---- 9462 mg VC
30 ppm ---- 11355 mg VC

After you have figured out how much you want to dose at each dosing, enter that number here _____. This is your dose to be used twice a day.

so i guess correct me if am wrong that 1/4 tsp almost gives 100 gallons
5 ppm of by alittle kinda of by 700 mg so to make it easier am gonna dose 1 table spoon twice a day maybe that will put me at like 7-9 ppm i dont know lol. I am gonna take pics of what ever colonys of zoas i have closed for a while or seem like if they are melting then retake them every two weeks as a experiment supposingly this helps the zoas open up and color up better and grow faster lets c if this is true

Not sure your math is quite right:

5 ppm or 5 mg/l in 400 liters (100 gallons) is a total of 2000 mg or 2 g or a little less than 1/2 teaspoon.

am not sure am right and do appreciate the feedback this guy pufferpunk i figured if 1/4 teaspoon is 1112 mg and 1/2 a teaspoon would be 2224 mg then 1 tbsp is 4448 mg. so if he says that for 5ppm in a 100 gallon tank it takes 1892 mg then double that is 3784 mg am only of by 664 mg and that would be to hard to try to calculate how much less to take of so maybe it puts me at like 6 or 7 ppm if read some of his post and he goes to as much as 30 ppm so i should be ok i think i plan to start low and work it up to a level i start cing improvement. Has anyone else on this site dosed vitamin c if so how many gallons how much did you dose and did you c improvements on coral color, growth and health

I just took up baking and learned that one tablespoon is equal to thee teaspoons. One tablespoon would also be equivalent to 12 1/4 teaspoons. So, 12 x 1112 mg would be 13,344 mg. Dump this amount in a 100 gallon tank (400 liters), you would have 33 ppm, not 6 or 7 ppm, vitamin C.

I hope your vitamin C experiment works.

Is there any science behind vitamin C dosing? I cannot find anything but vendor claims and testimonials on threads.

wow i wrote a whole long page and it deleted lol. dan thanks alot for that info i didnt know that, am gonna have to test it out later. That would explain my water being cloudy today and my skimmer over skimming. I read on rc of a guy that this happen to and he let the water clear then reduced the dose. I am gonna not dose for two days then start of small at like 2 times 1/4 teaspoon twice a day and increase weekly. Thats y i love this hobbie its a challenge. I checked all my levels and there still good i also cleaned the skimmer cup and changed my filter socks i did this on monday as usual but had to do it again today. Jackson vitamin c is suppose to help corals color up grow faster and help out polyps that are closed or melting open back up am doing it as a experiment on my polyps that are closed maybe 4 mini colonies.
