Any advise stand for 300 gal

I am ordering the same tank soon. I was wondering, why did you not order it with the DD stand? Too low, or are you concerned about the strength?
Don't you get lifetime warranty on tank, if you buy/use their stand?
Quite frankly, I'd prefer to build my own... 2 of my friends, both named Jim ( screen name 'Jim' & 'Polywise' ) have 300DD tanks with beautiful homemade stands... Check out their tank threads !

I wouldnt use 4x4. I would either weld up a steel frame and skin it with 1/4" ply and trim it all out or make it using wood such as 2x8 top frame and 2x6 lower frame and 2x6 vertical supports. There is a thread on RC that will be a huge help. You may be able to avoid using a center brace if you use a 2x8 top frame..

And plane your 2x6 or 2x8 on the side that the tank or plywood will sit on.You want the wood to be as straight as possible
Great tank, best of luck with it. Considering $ is issue i dony know if you could pull off the steal stand. Site fishandtips has stand plans, might be worth checking out. I think the homemade stands are sturdier, but thats my opinion only
i just set my 300dd up. built my stand don't have pics while building.
i used 2x4 for corners and bottom frame. 2x6 for top frame with one center support cause i wanted 4 doors. skinned in oak. 3/4 furniture grade birch plywood on top. face frame solid oak, raised panel oak doors.
cost about $500 to make but a lot stronger and nicer imo then theirs. i made it 29" high.
only draw back you loose the life time warranty. i was thinking i should of bought their stand and skinned it and get the warranty. pm if you have questions.

I just bought the 300DD and i bought the stand to go with it,it was a little low to my liking but we built a riser that brought the bottom of the tank to 36" which is a nice height, to me having the lifetime warr. was deff. worth buying there stand. 300G of water on the floor of my house and i wanna be able to go after someone.. when you build your own stand its on you, I just think your not gonna save that much money building one and unless your good with wood its not gonna look as nice as theres, PM me and ill send you some Pics of mine

Dont forget to post pictures! I built my stand myself also. I can probably upgrade to a 400 gallon and still have room. I used 2x8 top frame, 2x6 lower frame and 2x6 vertical supports with tico brackets for inside supports. Then I skinned the entire thing top and bottom with 3/4" ply and laminated the inside as well. Overkill but I sleep very good at night.

Why not use 4x4's? I definitely wouldn't use pressure treated lumber. I used all douglas fir framing lumber.
I built my own stand mostly for reason that the floor I was setting the tank on is uneven and also that I'm sure my stand would outlast anything Marineland could offer.

You shouldnt use pressure treated wood inside a house. I believe they can release toxins into the air if there ever is a fire.
