Good luck with your transfer. This is the one biggest thing that worries me the most . Do you know what could of caused this? Was the tank sitting flush on the stand because it looks like from the crack that was the case :(....

not sure what's wrong, tank been running for 1.5 years without issue. might be unbalance tank or the stand. advice for anyone considering custom build tank, unless it's from well known builder.. DON'T

Please make sure that stand top where the tank sits on is 100% level and flat. Does the new tank have trim on the bottom? if not i would get some foam to sit it on. if it does i would get a yoga mat and cut it desired dimensions.

Good luck with the new tank.
Question
Is this a common thing? Reading this make me concerned about my tank now. My tank is not dead level its off about a 1/4" to 1/2" in a 6 foot span. And was in the process of building a new tank canopy to raise my LEDs because they do not have a dimmer which will add three times the weight. The tank is not custom but the stand is.

IMO, you should be concerned, and certainly NOT add more weight to the aquarium! You should empty it (at least partially), so that you can properly level the stand.

I did a little homework on this and there are hundreds of opinions out there. But I put a level on it and its not even an 1/8" off in two feet I'm thinking in the six feet I'm probably around 3/8" off. And its on a rug so the weight should be spread out a little more.

i would really like to know the physics behind how much more pressure an unlevel tank puts on the glass cause i don't think its much.
we have any physics majors on here?
i think if you have a ridged true flat surface on your stand you don't have much to worry about. if you have one corner higher then the other and tank isn't in contact with stand then you have a problem. i had a 90g that was off 1/4-1/2" was up for 4 yrs never had a problem. i had a lot of tanks and never had a true level one. i hope I'm not righting one of these crack tank threads one day.
like mentioned that rug isn't going to do any thing about spreading weight.
tank manufacturers don't recommend putting any pad between tank and stand.
