Why can't you have a clean up crew if its a fowler? Im very confused.... You still have algae, fish poop and extra fish food that has not been consumed. So you can only have a clean up crew if you have a reef tank?.... Get yourself a clean up crew to take of all that

I am in a similar boat, my wrasse eats all my CUC. RIP Mr hermit.

Subscribed because if I can find a way to keep the algae at bay without the wrasse killing Mr hermit I'd be happy.

What puffer do you have? It will more then likely nip at the starfish!

Best you can do is as already stated is circulation to keep matter suspended so that it can be removed by your filter.
Also be extra careful while feeding not to over feed.

On my 180g w/ 75g sump fowlr I run the following:

ATB 840 V2 skimmer
2 x koralia 1200 gph powerheads
1 x WP60 on random mode
1 x MP40 on reef crest mode

My fish aren't stuck against the glass, but I have a good amount of flow.

One thing I'd like though is for my rocks/sand to be clean and with no CUC i find that difficult.

In addition I am running a gfo & carbon reactor separate along w/ filter sock.
