I have a 240 gallon display tank, 125 gallon sump, 75 gallon fuge. total water volume approximately 300 gallons. I have prodibio bio-optim and bio-digest. I don't seem to understand the dosing that prodibio recommends since its in liters. How much of the ampules should I dose at a time and how often? It says after 6 weeks to start reef boosters.

Hi,
First question to you, what do you mean "works"?
Do you have problem with Cyanobacteria or other algae problem of you just want to make your system clear and increase bacteria population?
Do you have standard vials or pro, the big ones?

Yes I have the standard version. Someone suggested I would be "wasting" money on the pro version. The bio-optim suggests 1 for every 1000 liters which is 264 gallons of water. The bio-digest suggests 1 for every 50 gallons of water. I have no problem with cyano and I hope I never do. Lol. I'm looking to clean up my tank. Don't have algae issues yet but my water isn't crystal clear and I'm running carbon as people say there's are after using these products. I would definitely like to increase bacteria population

Ok great...
I used to have Cyanobacteria problem that's why I didn't fallow prodibio directions and play with bacterias more aggressively.
They suggest 1 reg vial per 2 weeks for 50 gal, my dosage was 2 vials for 50 gal every week after water change bioptim and bio digest it takes me about a month to eliminate whole Cyanobacteria, water was crustal clear and bacteria population was even too high cause they start massively growing in my piping system so every few hours white piece of bacteria colony's was peeled off by flow from main pump or anytime I had to shut pump off to do water change then turn it on was tons of white pieces...
if you're asking whether prodibio works then my answer is yes they do very well.
If you want only get better water quality I'll suggest to fallow instructions and dose 6 vials of each every 2 weeks.

I will have to do some googling/research on the price differential between the regular vials and the pro. Or just wait until there is a sale somewhere. After using up all prodibio products does everyone still dose this stuff or do they just wait until the levels creep back up? Eventhough it states bio-digest is 1 vial for every 50 gallons but then it says 1 vial is suitable for 30-250 gallons every 2 weeks you suggest 6 vials every 2 weeks?

Ok. I don't have reef booster yet so I have time. How long was/is your skimmer off for when you dose reef booster? Did you really notice a see able difference in your tank from the time you started using prodibio to the time you started dosing reef booster and there after? Just asking so I have a idea what to look forward to and noticing any differences except when I just check my levels

When i first started dosing my nitrates had dropped to 4. Now its back to 8-12 so i've dropped my feeding. Honestly, i like prodibio but it doesn't do anything at this point for me thats visible. Meaning i wouldn't plan on "seeing" any difference.

I would turn the skimmer off for at least 12 hours. Last time i turned it back on less than that i got a bit of overflow in my skimmate locker.

Hmmm. Some people state how much cleaner there tanks look and how brighter there corals are. And they say this is usually noticeable within the first dose.

It seems like this is a long term thing. Meaning I should stock up cause if I stop using or run out the levels will increase. Did you expect your nitrates to get down to 0?

This product could very well be viewed under MoneyMaks' product list...it's pretty subjective. I wouldnt call it a miracle product. For me it's about bacterial diversity and some nitrate/phosphate control.

Very interesting thought. I have only heard good things except for the occasional algae bloom here and there for whatever reason. I need to find out the root of my nitrate problem. That's my major issues besides the water clarity.

Do you still dose alk, cal, mag eventhough you use the reef booster?

Reefbooster is essentially nutrients that you deplete by dosing prodibio. It does not replace cal, alk, and mag.

Yes, you need to find the root of your nitrate problem. Prodibio wont solve it. If you have a real issue then i would suggest biopellets or carbon dosing.

I am gonna have to do more frequent larger water changes. I will vacuum my sump and some sand during water change. Replace filter socks every 2-3 days. Invest in some snails and crabs. Start pricing cleaner shrimp and blood shrimp. Invest in a sand sifting starfish and possibly 2 sand sifting gobies. If this doesn't help then I have no other choice but to look into carbon dosing/bio pellets. Rule of thumb is 10% water change every 1-2 weeks but 30 gallons seems low for 300 gallon water volume. Think I am gonna increase it to a 55 gallon drum every 2 weeks. Don't wanna deplete my tank of everything
