First off, I would like to say that I have enjoyed reading through everyone's sump thread. You have all done some great work!
I recently bought a 150 gallon long (72"x18") dual corner overflow tank . This tank will be an upgrade from my 120 gallon. The reason I am writing to you all is because I need to make sure that I am setting up the plumbing/sump correctly!
I purchased a 55 gallon tank from petco to custom make my a sump. What I am struggling with is how I should divide up the chambers. To me I want convenience. I want to be able to change the filter bags easily, clean the skimmer easily, and adjust anything very quickly and efficiently. The skimmer that I have is a reef octupus sss2000 with a small foot print. Its dimensions are Base Diameter:
10?x9.5?x24?
I plan on only doing 3-4 corals, mainly oriented towards fish. So I am conflicted on whether or not i should do a refugium.
Also in case I go away for the weekend I want to also have a big return area! That is probably the most important thing to me!
So my first question to you is ..... How should I set up the chambers of my sump to have a nice, spacious, easy dual overflow drain/filtersock/skimmer section, a ,nice large return area so I don't need to top off every day and a refugium.
Measurement suggestions and baffel height suggestions
55 gallon tank is roughly 48x12.5"-13"x19"
if i decide to do a refugium would it be too small to be effective?
I would T off the return to feed the refuge?
Can I tee off the return to feed a reactor?
