Nepthia please help ASAP

So I got a nepthia tree and it's not doing to well I wanted to know if I cut off the piece that's turned into that bad wood look alike that flakes all over the tank and makes a mess .after cutting it off that should I dip it into iodine before adding it back to the tank please help ???

Any pics? If parts are melting I would try to frag the healthy part of it. I picked up a green nepthea at ORSAS and this was the first time that it seems to be doing good, my first 2 frags melted.

my nephia turned brownish black in some spots a few times. someone said its a type of bacteria. i cut off the discolored pieces and its doing great.

If you've already started cutting this thing up, your chance for a refund has been cut in half imo. How long has it been in your tank already to have started turning into "wood"?

It's Been like 2 months or so I would have to say and I have not started to cut it yet lol but my question was after I cut it should I use iodine does anyone know if I should

I've cut nepthia with no iodine and had no issue. I think you can dip though to prevent infections

Yani1133 ever since I changed my lights to led from t5 it started to happened so I changed it around to a few spots am running ai sols just wondering where you keep yours in the tank ?

First of all thank you for the clean up yes albano they were all doing well but now started this mess ever since the change with the lights everything else are doing great but so some reason it didn't like the change

Do you own a par meter to set led's close to what the other lamps were putting out as far as par
Also did you drip acclimate to your tank or just drop it in ??

Greg 45 no meter buddy and yes drip about half an hour they were doing great things happen it's part of the hobbie what can we do

All we can do is learn from what we do
When I acclimate I drip for almost 3 hours slow drip
hope you salvaged some of it

Problem with drip acclimating is you need to put a heater into the vessel in which you are acclimating or the acclimation process is counter productive by now letting the newly acclimated items water temperature drop to ambient thus shocking the item drip acclimated for 3 hours.

2 months later is not an acclimation issue. Its quite feasible that it did not like the change in light. I wouldn't worry too much unless you have other issues going on in the tank and just give it some time.
