Whats going on with Green polyp leather toadstool?

i've had it for years,

Toadstools will do this regularly when they are growing, or if something irritates it.
And I have also noticed this when alkalinity fluctuates in the tank.

Check water and play with flow and location. I had one Do that and i took turkey baster and blew like dead skin off of it. And then it came back strong again. They molt i think like a shrimp....its like it can't breath with dead skin and when you blow it clean it stronger and gets bigger. Good flow is what mine like...but not direct
