Advice on water change

As some may have read I have recently upgraded to a larger tank 75g w/ sump (about 25g) from a Biocube. We my first water change coming up I'm looking to you guys to find out how much water and how to go about it. In other words should I take all the water out of DT or from sump or both? All in all I would say I have about 80g of water total more or less.

8g / week or 16g/ bi weekly is my recommendation. You should be able to take from the sump makes things very easy

In my 75 i change 20 gal every two weeks..i suck out as much gunk from the sump as possible and clean the walls of my display sucking up as much stuff as i can.

In my 75 I change 10 gals a week.

I know you want a measurement answer so bang out 20 gallons.


But the real answer is, as long as your Nitrate levels are ok I wouldn't do any water changes. Periodically dose the calcium, alk, and trace elements. But only when needed.
