oh man did i get the WORDS OF the day from her.. 0.o i am surprised she kept her cool with me -.- ... But that was the 2nd time in 2months i did that..... no bueno, last time i did about 60G on the Floor. i dont understand how the heck i forgot to shut it off.

sorry about that boba, cleaned it all up got the fans all rigged up everything is just about dry, as soon as the dehumidfier comes in we are gonna run it for how ever long it needs to be ran and do the spraying a few times a week till we see nothing nor smell nothing. Right now it does not smell in the basement, Thank god. it is a little damp in there. i got all the Rags and towels out of the basement that were wet. i am really upset that i did this again. .. i am like a 90 year old man with the whole memory thing.. LOL, no but everything is okay as of right now, i will as she will keep an eye on things over the weeks to come to make sure the foundation of the basement beams are okay and no mold is forming.

thank god for cement floors, but the wood beams are the killer part.

for now on i will be making 4.5G jugs and using the Brute 20G can for mixing saltwater for the tanks in stead of making 2 different batches in 5G buckets. :: punches self in the head::

anyways, Thank you all for jumping into this and helping Gab. she was a real mess cause of me today.. i suck i know. But mistakes are made ! o.o ::runs away:: i no i no 2 times in a row is just plain silly, last time i SWEAR>.<!

You don't jump from airplanes without a parachute, you don't ride a motorcycle without a helmet, you don't play baseball without a bat. You can't drink skimmate without a skimmer..

There are things in life we just don't do without the proper equipment and protection. Nothing is 100%...but stop trying to use the pull out method with your RO. Its not reliable in real life and its not reliable for making RO water...

Bella, when you objected to an RO unit initially, there were plenty of steps that were listed that could be put in place to prevent what you feared.. Sounds like you opened the door to this by not following any of that advice. Stop letting Rob do boneheaded things... :)

I learned a lot about mold after Superstorm Sandy.. a couple of suggestions:

1- Tell Rob to set the alarm on his phone when he starts to make water - for a time SHORTER than it takes the container to fill. ( I don't see that whole float valve thing happening fast enough..)

2- Don't use bleach to kill mold, it's awful for your lungs & useless on non-porus surfaces.
Use Hydrogen Peroxide in a spray bottle but store it in it's dark bottle if you don't use it all up.

I always set my alarm on my phone now. If I go to make water and I don't have my phone on me I don't turn it on until I have the phone in my hand. I don't tell myself just turn it on and then go get your phone because I have once forgot to set my alarm so it has to be in my hand

Ugh i've done this a couple times as well. It's so easy to forget. I always set the timer on my phone now.

We've had floods in the basement from rain and 1 time from my rodi unit that leaked through the ceiling that sucked. We just put fans on it and let it dry. No mold happened. Hope everything ends up well.

Do you guys have a humidity meter? Its probably a good idea to have, if you're thinking about prevention of mold. You want to keep it within 30-50% humidity.
I use to have a basement apartment that got flooded from heavy rain. I just had a dehumidifier and made sure the humidity was between 30-50% and dried everything that got wet quickly. It took 2 years to fix the rain issue and I never saw any mold spots.
