i am filling for the first time. my ro/di can't make it fast enough . i have filled a 225 3/4 of the way and added a heater and flow dry rock and live sand are in. my tank is now foaming I'm afraid i need more flow can i add tap water to get process rolling and continue to change out with ro/di during water changes.

I filled my first tank with tap water and ended up fighting hair algae and cyano for a while. My second tank (75G) I used rodi which was a pain cuz it takes so long (u would know) but I'm glad I did. Been up for about 2.5 months and haven't seen any hair algae/cyano.

What do you mean by tank is foaming? What's the total GPH of your powerheads and return pump?

well its a total of a 350 gal system . i have to make about 150 gal more so i can't run the entire system until its full. i have temp pumps in tank for flow and a heater for temp until i can full it to max. the stench is killing my wife and kids. i figured i could speed it up.
