Route 4 Aquarium or Absolutely Fish

Going to be near both of these places today, trying to decide which to visit. I've been to absolutely fish but never route 4 aquarium.

Any suggestions? Any other in the NJ area I should consider visiting?

I've been to both. RT4 sometimes has pretty good deals on fish. Absolutely fish is an awesome place as far as to their live stock and corals, but their prices are on the higher end.

Yes I have been to both . It depends on what you are looking to purchase as far as where to go. Both sell quality products. Hope this helps . Sorry for the late reply was at work.

Abso is bigger, higher pricetags.... The staff can be hit or miss though

Went to both, rt 4 was quite disappointing - a lot of dead livestock and empty tanks. They are definitely putting more into their reptile selection than fish...at least at the moment.

Absolute was fine, a lot more fish but coral selection was not impressive and yes staff is hit or miss.

No, absolute had a Dracula goby, but I'd prefer it paired with a shrimp.

I was looking for reef Chromis and a Midas blenny, didn't find either.

Have to agree that they are concentrating more on their reptile section than fish. Coral selection is virtually non existent the last time I was there about 3 months ago.

They did have one nice display tank by the counter.

Nice people to deal with.

As far as Absolutely Fish goes dry goods are obviously overpriced so order online in advance if you need something. Their saltwater fish overall look very healthy.

Absolutely Fish would be the first on my hit list. I've been going there for a good 30 years now (both as Absolutely Fish and under the previous owner's store name Aquatropics). What I love about this place is their constant addition of marine fish that I've never seen before - I don't think I've ever paid a visit there when I haven't spotted a fish I've never seen before!
