Hi guys, I was given a used lifereef sump when i bought my tank. i was cleaning the sump today and i notice a crack on the bottom of the sump (about 8.5" long). Is this fixable or do i need to throw this away? Here is the pic of the crack

TIA

Tae

not an arcylic guru. but it looks like it can def be fixed. possibly take a larger sheet of acrylic and silicone it across the whole bottom. its a good thing its on the bottom since as long as it is on a solid flat surface there is little chance of it failing completely

you can patch it, but do not use silicone with acrylic, it will fail over time.

glue it with weld-on and it will be permanent.

Wrong answer. Silicon doesn't stick to acrylic.

I"d clean up the inside as best as you can. Try some muratic acid and water. (or vinegar and wait a while)

Then use some weldon 4 or weldon 3 to seal the crack. You should be able to let the capilary action pull the weldon into the crack. Then go over the top with a bead of weldon 16 (the thick stuff)

Let dry overnight and you should be good to go.
