I picked up a red fromia starfish yesterday, about 2 inches big, drip acclimated him to my biocube yesterday and let him loose. I was pretty slow with the drip acclimation and I tried not to expose him to the air. Today I get home and see him as I saw him this morning, just in a different spot. At the water line, with 4 legs underwater and 1 leg sort of waving around, with the bottom part of it contacting air. I thought starfish needed to stay under water. This is guy is definitely alive, I turned the lights on about an hour ago and since then he has moved at least 8 inches, but it in the same position. A friend told me that it may be asking for food however he doesn't grip it when I try mysis. I see a lot of tentacle movement and he looks healthy for the most part. Any idea why he is at the surface? My tank has a nice 4 inch sand bed and a ton of LR lol I thought these guys preferred it.
