Xenia Dying?

So I've had pulsing xenia for years, growing like crazy. I recently took my fish out for a QT period as one had ich. During this time the Xenia began dying off. The rest of my coral is just fine but every so often another stalk of Xenia turns white and shrivels up. Any small shot of water flow towards it knocks it right off. I'm wondering what might have caused it, is my water too clean with the fish out and the Xenia is not getting enough of the nutrients it was used to?

it happens to me from my previous tank befor,i think u right,when my nitrate show zero forabout 2 weeks,xenia n waving hang start dying.

Thanks Jenny I figured that's probably what's going on. Well the fish are back so we shall see if it changes.

Yea I guess so. They like "dirty" tanks. I was lucky enough to contain them to one rock so I didn't mind keeping them around. They're nice to look at.

it sound like just a lack of nutrients from being fishless.

Yea sounds like it. Just thought I'd toss this post out to see if any other ideas came about but that seems to be the opinion here. Fish are back we shall see if the Xenia make a comeback.
